Richeson: ASCITTY — Games
Summary—Rendered in real time on a colour terminal and on a Commodore Plus/4 — and a taxi game inside it.
Rays are cast out from the camera every frame and walk the grid front to back; nearby things are larger and brighter, distant ones fade into the dark. There are no 3D models, no textures, no shaders and no artwork: the 128 shapes it draws with are generated by a function.
The same city runs on a modern terminal and on an 8-bit Commodore Plus/4. Every picture in its documentation was made by the program itself.
Highlights
- Grid raycasting in real time, in text
